MS Word Font Formatting

In this post we will do some text formatting, lets just open the document we saved before and apply some formatting to it.

Inside the font area you will find options to choose font type,font size, bold , italic, underline, strike-trough superscript, highlight text, change color or clear all formatting.Font formatting is very important for your document to look professional, modern , the way you like and that is something you couldn't do with old typing machines:)


  1. To change font to the text you entered just highlight that text, go to font tab and choose your font face. 
  2. To adjust size change the number of pixels or you can use A buttons inside that tab to Increase or Decrease fonts. 
  3. If you would like to make your text Bold just highlight and press B button or I for Itallic
  4. Highlight your text and click  U button to have it underlined.
  5. Striketrough button will draw line in the middle of selected text.
  6. Using subscript buttons you can create small letters above or below the line or text. 
  7. Aa Button you can change highlighted text to UPPERCASE lowercase or other common capitalization.
  8. Selected text can be highlighted as well buy pressing ab button that has colored underline.
  9. To change font color , highlight text and press A button that has colored underline
  10. Clear formatting from selected text , leave only plain text with button in upper right corner of font tab.
Go ahead and do some exercise with commands above to get ready for next post. Please note that you can apply more than one command for same text, lets say you want bold text that is underlined , red and italic as well. Thank you for reading my posts!
